VOLUNTEER WITH FOSEL
“The question is whether or not you choose to disturb the world around you, or if you choose to let it go on as if you had never arrived.” — Ann Patchett
Are you a civic-minded, book-loving person looking for ways to give back to the neighborhood? Whether you have lots of extra time on your hands or only an occasional free hour, FOSEL welcomes your support to make our Library, its Park, and our programs successful.
While the Library is closed, our programs have been limited to summer concerts and author talk series in rented space at the Union United Church on Columbus Ave. In the past we have offered a range of volunteering options from setting up for fun events, preparing for fund drives, working in the park’s garden, and more.
If you would like to volunteer with FOSEL, please contact us at info@friendsofsouthendlibrary.org, and let us know what your areas of interest are. This is a great opportunity to meet people and gain experience, while making a meaningful impact on our community.
Examples of some of the ways our volunteers contributed to our efforts in the past have included:
Easter Egg Hunt
Painting and filling eggs, organizing set up and take down
Jazz in the Park
Helping with set up, taking care of refreshments
Holiday Gift Book Event
Handing out books to neighborhood kids for the holidays
Gardening Lovers
Planting, weeding, watering, and generally caring for the garden in Library Park and the Tremont Street tree enclosures
